Front and middle part of tounge be pressing with the same pressure as the backthird?

  • Hello,

Does anyone know if the front and middlepart (especially the front part) of the tounge should be pressing against the pallet with the same pressure and force as the backthird?

When I try it it's tough to get the same pressure on the front part as with the backthird (specifically when the backthird is activated). The front part kinda just sits there still just before the front teeths.

Has anyone seen a video or anything else of John or Mike Mew mentioning this?

    Thanks in advance,

  • When it comes to tongue posture, it is generally recommended that the entire tongue be in contact with the palate. This includes the front, middle, and back portions of the tongue. The pressure and force applied to each section may vary depending on the individual's specific anatomy and any underlying issues they may have.

It is not uncommon for people to have difficulty applying the same amount of pressure to the front of the tongue as they do to the back. However, with practice and consistency, it may be possible to achieve a more even distribution of pressure.

Mike Mew has mentioned multiple times that the whole tongue should be in contact with the palate. He has also put a lot of emphasis on the back third of the tongue.

Hope that helps ;) and please don't hesitate to comment on other posts. We need to start a strong community ;)
