Suction hold

  • What is suction hold and how do I do it when mewing?

  • When performing the suction hold, the tongue is vaccumed against the roof of the mouth with a significant amount of force. To perform this you need to mew and then start swallowing spit in your mouth until you feel a vacuum pulling your tongue to your palate.

The maxilla, which is the upper jaw bone that supports the teeth and forms the base of the nose, is thought to be pushed upward and forward by the force of the tongue. This can result in a more prominent, defined cheekbone structure, as the cheekbones are also attached to the maxilla.

Additionally, the tongue's placement against the roof of the mouth can help to widen the palate, which is the roof of the mouth itself. This can create more room for the teeth to develop and potentially alleviate overcrowding or malocclusion (misaligned bite).
