Is the butterfly touch important for mewing?

The butterfly touch, also known as lightly resting your teeth together, is an essential component of mewing, a technique that aims to improve facial structure and function through proper tongue posture and breathing habits. By using the butterfly touch, you create a gentle upward force on your maxilla, the bone that forms the upper part of your jaw, leading to a clockwise facial upswing.

Mike Mew has mentioned the butterfly touch numerous times, however, he does not mention its importance of it. And it is!
